Ofsted Inspections at Heath Lane Academy
At Heath Lane Academy, we are proud of the high standards we continue to maintain. Our most recent Ofsted inspection took place in February 2025, during a transitional period in how Ofsted evaluates and reports on schools.
Although Ofsted is in the process of moving away from giving a single overall effectiveness grade, our inspection still followed the previous framework and confirmed that the school continues to meet the high standards set out in our previous report from 2019.

Understanding the Changes
From September 2024, Ofsted began phasing out the single overall effectiveness judgement in favour of a more detailed and balanced assessment of schools. These changes include:
-
Evaluating schools across several key areas, including quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.
-
Plans to introduce new report cards from September 2025, using a 5-point grading scale in each area, rather than an overall grade.
These updates aim to give parents and stakeholders a more transparent and detailed understanding of school performance.
