Homework

One of the key components of academic success is the completion of homework.

Homework serves as an essential extension of classroom learning, reinforcing the material covered during lessons and providing students with an opportunity to memorise important information, practice skills and apply new skills independently. Regular homework encourages good study habits, time management, and self-discipline, all of which are crucial for academic success both now and in the future.

To help support your child's organisation and ensure they stay on top of their homework we have allocated set days for homework to be set and completed.  Science homework will be set on Monday and is also due on Monday of the following week. English homework will be set every Tuesday and is expected to be completed by the following Tuesday. Maths homework will be assigned every Wednesday, with the same expectation for timely completion. Please encourage your child to manage their time effectively and complete their assignments on schedule. All Maths and Science homework is set on Sparx. English KS3 work is set on Sparx Reader and KS4 is set on Seneca. Other subjects set their homework in different ways.

To ensure that all students are maximising their potential and to further raise our academic standards, we have implemented a new policy regarding homework completion. Any student who fails to complete or submit their homework on time will be required to attend a 20-minute same-day detention after school. Students will record their homework in their school planner. In addition to this the homework will be available to view on Arbor.  If your child has been issued with a same-day detention you will receive a text message before 2pm and your child will be expected to stay and complete the homework until 3:30pm.

We understand that in rare circumstances there will be a valid excuse for not having homework completed on time. It is important that under these circumstances your child seeks out their teacher or pastoral lead before break time on the day the work is due in.  Your support in this matter is invaluable. By working together, we can ensure that our students understand the importance of their education and develop the habits that will lead them to success.

If you have any queries about log in details, students should speak to their subject teacher in the first instance. If they are continuing to find it difficult to log in, they should speak to Mrs Dyer.
