Curriculum intent

This qualification is designed for students with a passion for business and entrepreneurship, offering a practical and engaging introduction to the world of enterprise.  

The course is ideal for those who want to understand how businesses operate, how ideas turn into successful ventures, and how to develop the skills necessary for a career in business or to start their own enterprise. 

Throughout the course, students will explore key concepts such as business planning, market research, and financial management, while also learning how to develop essential skills in communication, teamwork, and decision-making. With a focus on real-world application, the BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise equips students with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions, whether they're aspiring to start their own business or work within a growing organization. 

The course combines classroom-based learning with practical assessments (coursework), allowing students to demonstrate their skills and understanding in a variety of contexts.

KS4 Curriculum roadmap / Year by year, term by term

Year 10 

  • Component 1:  Exploring Enterprises – Coursework – 30% of final grade 
  • Component 2:  Planning for and Pitching an Enterprise Activity – Coursework – 30% of final grade 

Year 11 

  • Students will be given an opportunity to re-sit either of their Component 1 or 2 coursework, to secure the best outcomes 
  • Component 3:  Promotion and Finance for Enterprise – Examination – 40% of final grade
